ASSIGNMENT - A6 Inspired by ANY of the artists mentioned in class, record a 3 minute maximum video of your own performance art piece / Topic to be determined and more details to be given in class. XTRA X2 - ASCII art - explore ASCII art and image conversion. Looking up ASCII art was pretty interesting. Basically they are images that are created using letters or numbers. They can be used to make simple  pieces  or even intricate ones like the Mona Lisa.  It's very simple art to make because you can literally take any image and upload it into a converter that pops it out in the ASCII form. There are many different versions of this all you have to do is google it and scroll around all the examples. It's simple and fun to do if you want to see the break down of images into detail.

BLOG POST - B5  Considering the grouping I used for this module, choose 5 different music “movements” from the ones listed, and add one group/musician/performer to that category, especially related to the usage of technology. Why did you choose this artist? Why do you consider their work fits with technology and electronic music in their context? She is labeled in many genres but I placed her into the genre Industrial/Goth out of the choices we were given. One of her genres is Goth Rock so I think it fits. Especially since even though her lyrics are "Goth" the music is pretty industrial sounding. With her beautiful voice and style she is labeled as the Queen of Bubble Goth for a reason. ASSIGNMENT - A5 Using a Xerox machine, photocopy parts of yourself and create a 2D and/or 3D work of art inspired by any of the Art Movements seen in class. At least 2 feet x 3 feet. I did not have access for a Xerox machine so instead I scanned myself and turned the images to black and white. I was inspired to make a piece related to the Baroque/Rococo era because I've always loved the big hair and styles of the time. Though in the end it looks more like a hat I still like it because even accessories at that time were overly big and stylized. If you didn't have it big enough for someone a mile away to see it then you were poor. I used the side images of my hand and made a feather, the splayed image go my hands together looked like a bow to me. Turned the images of my hair different ways to give it a messy bee hive look. and used an image of my arm to make the accordion collar. Inspiration

ASSIGNMENT - A4 Create a work of art using the notion of “Grid Art“. More details to be given in class (grid must be at least 30 × 30 units of your choice)  For this project I chose to use 900 white, flat thumbtacks and used permanent marker to color each one in to form the image I chose.  I'm a fan of the movie "Spirited Away" and my favorite character is called, "No Face". So I chose to do him on a grid.  It took a couple of hours do complete because I had to draw out the grid before I started placing the pins so they would line up completely. After that came the task of coloring in each pin to create the shape. 

ASSIGNMENT - A2 - due 3/13 Flip page animation ; at least 200 frames. Open topic.  Since the topic was open I had so many ideas. Eventually landing on influence from a pretty twisted comic series I read while in  high school and took inspiration from it. It took a decent amount of time moving the images slightly over on each page and then having to go back and color everything in.  What made the topic easy is that the comic I went off of (Johnny the Homicidal Maniac) is pretty random so I didn't feel like I should follow an exact story line because that wouldn't honor the muse I chose. In hindsight my version is a lot brighter than the actual comic and a lot less morbid.  The sound came from an animation I made in a different class linked in an earlier post on my blog. It was creepy enough that I decided to just use it again. 

Choose a 21st century technology and write a brief (2 pages) on which technologies from previous decades influenced its creation. How could it influence new technologies we have not heard of in the future? I chose a 3-D printer. It is most defiantly a newer technology and it’s influence will lead greatly into the future as well as being able to follow it into the past. Starting from the beginning, we can say that it began with the basic writing systems which eventually evolved into punch cuts and block cuts to make the writing process faster as a demand for books grew. Watch Pjotr Sapegin’s Madama Butterfly animation and comment about it. This was this weeks assignment for my ART211 class.  It was extremely well done for a stop motion short film. The most care in crafting seemed to be put into the female doll, while the male was literally a Ken doll with a different head. Scenery was simplified but still helped tell the story. It relied heavily on metaphors and symbolism because there was no speaking. The symbolism of everything in the end literally broke your heart as you watched it and could genuinely feel as the doll did and wanted to rip yourself apart with heartache.   I enjoyed watching it and would definitely recommend it to others. In this Assignment for Art211 we had to combine two related or unrelated objects together. The theme was Baroque inspired because we had been going over technology in Opera. I have always loved the big hairstyles worn by people and all the accessories they could put into it as well as how big they could make it. To me sometimes it reminded me of clouds based on the mass of the hair woman wore. I did not want to overcrowd the hair to much but still wanted to show its mass. So I turned it into a storm cloud(which holds a lot of water) and decorated it with a small paper boat and some typical cartoonish lightning. Around her neck I gave her a typical Baroque collar(originally I wanted to turn it into an accordion because of its similarities but felt it would add to much to the image.) Post for this semester will be for my class Art(FMX)211-Art and Technology. So far we have only had one class and it seemed a bit interesting/odd. However, it's really difficult to get a feel for things when you just sit for a hour and a half talking about a syllabus, so honestly I don't have much to say about my experience in the class so far. We did end up going over all the projects to be completed this semester and all of which will be posted on here in some form. I'm pretty excited about some of them however there are about two that I honestly wish to have no part of. I'm a pretty closed off person(Anxiety) and don't speak up practically ever(I have agoraphobia which is  extreme or irrational fear of crowded spaces or enclosed public places) . So the fact that one project makes us do something in public is a thing of nightmares for me. We shall see how it all pans out.
