BLOG POST - B5
Considering the grouping I used for this module, choose 5 different music “movements” from the ones listed, and add one group/musician/performer to that category, especially related to the usage of technology. Why did you choose this artist? Why do you consider their work fits with technology and electronic music in their context? Post their works and your comments on your BLOGS.
1)For my first choice I chose the singer Kerli. She is labeled in many genres but I placed her into the genre Industrial/Goth out of the choices we were given. One of her genres is Goth Rock so I think it fits. Especially since even though her lyrics are "Goth" the music is pretty industrial sounding. With her beautiful voice and style she is labeled as the Queen of Bubble Goth for a reason. Add to that the almost industrial/electronic sounds she has to accompany her vocals it makes for some pretty amazing music.

2) For my second choice I went with Rammstein and decided to put them in the genre Hardcore. I don't necessarily agree with the groups that were listed as references because to me that was just club music. When I think of hardcore I think of bands like Rammstein, Slipknot etc. They use harsh vocals and even harsher imagery in most of their music/music videos to get their points across. With it they rely heavy on drums and electric guitars as well as synthesizers/keyboards.

3)Tangerine Dream is my third choice and I put them into the New Wave category because I agreed with most of the examples given like Siouxie and the Banshees, New Order and Blue Monday. They all have similar beats and led to newer genres coming up. It helped that they are labeled as New Age music. The time period they were in was a in between period, you can hear the "normal instruments" and subtly the technology in the background that adds it all together.

4) Green Day was my choice for the category of Punk. The Sex Pistoles and Ramones are listed as examples so Green Day fits in nicely. Just looking at them it's the first thing that comes to mind. With only three members they bring to mind the image of Sid Vicious(who was punk) and the style of music he was known for playing. Green Day and a handful of other bands have kept this genre alive and still going.

5) For the genre Electronic-Dj I chose Bassnectar. He relies heavily on using technology and very rarely has vocals in his music(when he does they are slightly altered). Out of all the categories I chose he is probably the one most reliant on technology.

All in all there were maybe 15 categories to choose from which we had free range to try and fit music into. I do wish we had had more groups because there are so many different versions of music. That are no where near listed and for some they have not heard of any of the categories we had to choose from. I tried my best and hope I did the groups I chose justice.
